Family history Count of Pallars
The history of the County of Pallars begins in the 9th century in the sunny high valleys of the Pyrenees. As an independent ruling house, the Counts of Pallars created a region that became known for flourishing monasteries, Romanesque architecture, and fruitful mountain agriculture.
Over generations, the counts and countsesses protected the local communities, promoted trade through the passes, and established libraries. In alliance with the Crown of Aragon, the House of Pallars stood out for more than five centuries for diplomatic skill and perseverance.
To this day, Pallars stands for regional cohesion, hospitality, and the impressive landscape of the Catalan mountains.
