Family history Duke of Molina
The rule of Molina originated in the 12th century in the vast Castilian border region and quickly developed into a prosperous, independent region. The dynasty gained particular fame under Doña Blanca de Molina, a ruler of wisdom, goodness, and determination.
She granted her capital important urban rights, promoted markets for clothmakers and cattle breeders, and ruled in close contact with her inhabitants. The fortress of Molina de Aragón was not only a place of refuge but also a meeting place for travelers and troubadours.
The name Molina thus stands for just rule, bourgeois prosperity, and a remarkably distinctive heritage of Central Spain.
